Enrolment

Rationale

The process of enrolment of students should assist both the parents and the school in determining whether enrolment at St. Peter Julian Eymard Parish Community School is appropriate.

Please refer to out Policies page for the most up to date information:

Aims and Guidance

Enrolments are decided by the following set of guidelines established by the Parish Priest, Principal and School Advisory Council in keeping with the Catholic Education Commission of Victoria guidelines. Total enrolment at the school, along with the decision to accept any child, remains a joint decision between Principal and Parish Priest.

Enrolment Priorities

  1.  Catholic children who are residents of the parish
  2.  Catholic children who do not reside in the parish but belong to the parish community
  3.  Catholic children from other parishes (for pastoral reasons)
  4.  Children from Non Catholic Eastern Churches who reside in the parish
  5.  Children from Non Catholic Eastern Churches who reside outside the parish
  6.  Other Christian children who reside in the parish
  7.  Other Christian children who reside outside the parish
  8.  Non-Christian children who reside in the parish
  9.  Non-Christian children who reside outside the parish

As per Archdiocesan List of Enrolment Priorities for Catholic Primary Schools (Enrolment Policy Review Report Catholic Education Office Archdiocese of Melbourne 2004-2005, p. 22)

Implementation

  • Enrolments for Preparatory open at the commencement of school tours each year and close at approximately mid May, in the year prior to child commencing Preparatory. Check our website for dates and bookings each year.
  • Enrolments are only taken in the year prior to the child commencing in Preparatory.
  • Letters offering places will be posted during June, with confirmation of acceptance of Preparatory placement due to the School as indicated in letter of offer.
  • After this date, if places are available, they will then be offered to children on our Waiting List. (Where the number of applicants is larger than the number of positions available, a Waiting list will be established.)
  • All offers of placement must be confirmed via the completion of the full Enrolment Form together with payment of a $100 non refundable deposit. (This fee is deducted from annual School Fee).
  • Students enrolling at our school as part of a Preparatory intake will be required to provide proof of age (Birth Certificate), indicating that they have turned 5 years of age by the 30th April of the Preparatory year. Exemptions need to be sought from the Director of Catholic Education.
  • Students enrolling at all year levels are required to provide copies of an immunisation certificate and birth certificate along with a Baptismal certificate where applicable.
  • Students will be allocated to classes according to the SPJE Class Placements Policy.
  • Application for Enrolment Forms and Prospectus are available from the School Office at the conclusion of each school tour. Please phone the School Office 9725 0595 to discuss options if you are unable to attend a tour. The School Office is open from 8.30am – 4.30pm Monday to Friday during school term.
  • Tours of the School are held in Term 1 and the beginning of Term 2. Please book a tour via our website or contact the School Office for further information. The tours are for approx. 1 hour.
  • The Archdiocese of Melbourne aims to provide a place in a Catholic school for every Catholic child whose parents choose Catholic education. The Catholic Education Office plans for this provision. However, it is not possible to guarantee that parents will secure their first choice of school.
  • Enrolment applications for children in classes other than Preparatory are accepted and processed in keeping with the Enrolment Priorities and applicable Implementation processes as outlined in this policy.
