Anaphylaxis is an acute allergic reaction to certain food items and insect stings. 1:200 people in the general community are at risk of anaphylaxis. It is a medical emergency that requires a rapid response. The most common allergens are nuts, eggs, cow’s milk and bee or other insect stings, and some medications. Although allergic reactions to food are common in children, severe life threatening reactions are uncommon and deaths are rare.
The school will provide a positive culture where bullying is not accepted, and in so doing, all will have the right of respect from others, the right to learn or to teach, and a right to feel safe and secure in their school environment.
At St. Peter Julian Eymard we believe that we all have the right to work and learn in a safe and affirming environment. Therefore, we will promote the values of our school vision statement.
Child Safety Policies
The care, safety and wellbeing of children is fundamental to being a member of the SPJE School Community.
We commit to providing a safe and nurturing culture for all children through:
- Upholding the importance of safety and wellbeing for all students.
- Empowering children, staff and families to have a voice and raise concerns.
- Implementing rigorous risk management and employment practices.

At St. Peter Julian Eymard Community School we believe the placement of children into class groupings requires careful consideration. Classes are re-grouped each year and children are mixed carefully taking into account many factors.
In keeping with the school’s Vision Statement, our school has a desire and responsibility to ensure that high standards of conduct and communication are maintained by staff, students and parents.
The school will provide a positive culture where online safety is paramount. Respect for all, the right to learn or to teach, and a right to feel secure in an online environment will be the prevailing principles.
Homework allows opportunities for families to participate further in the education of their child and for the child to reinforce knowledge and skills learnt at school.
The world is the primary context and place of God’s revealing himself to all humanity. It is in the reality of our daily lives that we come to know God as Creator, Jesus as Saviour and the Holy Spirit as our guide. As a school community we celebrate our Catholic identity.
Australia has the highest rate of skin cancer in the world. Sun exposure during childhood and adolescence is a risk factor for skin cancer later in life. At St Peter Julian School, we believe that all children should be protected from skin damage caused by the harmful ultra violet rays of the sun.
At St. Peter Julian Eymard School, students are expected to wear the correct school uniform as we believe it reinforces in students a pride in their own appearance, instils recognition of themselves as an integral part of the school community, and assists in developing pride in representing our school. Issues of equality, health and safety, and expense are also factors that contribute to the establishment of our uniform.
At St. Peter Julian Eymard School we believe that students engage better in learning and develop positive social relationships when they are healthy, safe and happy. We believe that the promotion of wellbeing is the responsibility of all members of the school community.
