Our Mission.

SPJE School aims to be a genuine community of faith, with Jesus at the centre, calling us to be His people. He calls us to support and encourage each other, to be open to His message and the power of His Spirit.

A brief history.

St Peter Julian’s School was established by the Parish of Croydon during the rapid expansion of Melbourne’s outer east in the late 1960s. The school’s founding staff were the Sisters of the Society of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, a Dutch religious order. As the community grew, Mooroolbark became a separate parish and, in 1979, established Eymard Hill School. Challenges with the Eymard site led to the decision to amalgamate the two schools in 1990.

In 1991, St Peter Julian Eymard School was formed on the original site, which had been expanded through the acquisition of land initially designated for a freeway. Since then, the school has grown steadily, driven by new residential developments and its strong reputation within the local community. Our spacious grounds and modern play areas provide ample opportunities for students to learn and play. Today, we have over 580 students and, due to our size, can offer a broad range of learning experiences. St Peter Julian Eymard School, along with our sister school, St Richard’s Kilsyth, are part of the Catholic Parish of Mooroolbark.
