“Prayer is when we send special messages to God”
— Grade One student
Religious Education
At the heart of our teaching and learning is the Religious Education Program, which shapes our curriculum and classroom interactions. Grounded in Catholic Social Teaching and students’ real-life experiences, we provide meaningful and contemporary learning opportunities that help students recontextualise Catholic teachings and scripture in ways that are relevant to their daily lives.
Living the Spirit
At SPJE, Religious Education nurtures the spiritual development of each person, recognising and celebrating the Holy Spirit at work in our lives. Embedded in Catholic Social Teaching and real-life experiences, we guide students in building respectful and compassionate relationships. With a strong focus on local and global social justice issues, we encourage students to engage with the world around them, fostering a deep appreciation for the richness of the Catholic Tradition and its call to love, serve, and seek justice for all.
Sacramental program
At SPJE, we provide education around all of the seven sacraments that are celebrated within the Catholic Church.
Our Year 3 students prepare to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
Our Year 4 students prepare to receive the Sacrament of First Eucharist.
Our Year 6 students prepare to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.
Children enrolled in our school who would like to be Baptised into the Catholic Faith Tradition, will work closely with the Religious Education Leader to prepare to receive this Sacrament.
Our school has a dynamic Faith Development Team that also provides opportunities for Adult Faith Education for Parents.
