Italian/Art

Learning a language in the primary school years provides students with the foundation for learning languages later in their schooling and into adulthood.

At our school, we embrace the philosophy of ‘Teacher as Co-Learner’ in our approach to learning Italian, fostering a collaborative and immersive language experience for both students and teachers. Each day, classroom teachers actively participate in 15 minutes of Italian learning alongside their students, modelling curiosity, persistence, and a love for language acquisition. This shared learning journey creates an authentic environment where Italian is naturally embedded into daily interactions, encouraging students to confidently use the language in the classroom and around the school. By embracing Italian together, we cultivate a culture of continuous learning, reinforcing that language growth is an evolving process enriched by practice, engagement, and enthusiasm.

Italian Conversation

Students are encouraged to frequently use their Italian language skills in the classroom and when conversing around the school.

Cultural Experiences through Art

We see art as an opportunity to experience the Italian culture, giving meaning and context to what’s being learnt.
