Knowledge | Skills | Understanding
At SPJE our Mathematics program is based upon evidence based research which strives to provide equity and excellence for all our students, ensuring our approach reflects how students learn most effectively. We are guided by the MACS’ Vision for Instruction, which emphasises a unified, consistent approach focused on continuous improvement to adapt to our students’ evolving needs.
We explicitly teach the mathematical curriculum, as well as provide our students with the opportunity to apply their knowledge to complete challenging tasks. Students participate in a Daily Review at the commencement of each Mathematics lesson so they can rehearse and retrieve previous learning. High impact teaching strategies are also employed to support our students to be active participants in the learning process at all times.

Collaboration
In our mathematics classrooms, children are provided with regular opportunities to work together and share their ideas, understandings and expertise. Lessons include the use of a range of different tools to engage children in their learning and enhance their understanding. Through the use of a wide variety of differentiated and open-ended tasks, children are challenged to further develop their skills while working at their own level.
